Best. John Mayer. Song. Ever. Those lyrics were my mantra for a good part of the summer and got me through a lot.
I’m actually a big fan of John Mayer, but “Say” has got to be one of his worst songs. When he’s not saying “Say what you need to say,” the song is great, but when around 75% of a song is the same line (literally), you’re not really exercising much creativity for a song with such potential.
I understand the significance of the line, and I don’t disagree that it’ is an important theme to repeat in the song, but 36 times is a bit excessive.
