So instead of plunking down $20k on the Fender Custom Shop limited run of “Monterey Pop” Hendrix Stratocasters, I’m picking up a Custom Shop 60’s NOS or a Hendrix Tribute from eBay and getting John Douglas to paint it … hopefully without having to sell any vital organs to afford it.
The guy does custom work for Van Halen, the Chili Peppers, and Aerosmith … I am not exactly in their tax bracket yet, so it’s a good thing that I’ve got a connection. We’re going to do lunch over at Hard Rock to discuss details. I’m thinking the “Saville Theater” design might be a good contender as well (and a lot less common).
