Halfway Nowhere

I had to cancel AT&T U-verse because I’m moving this week, so I was gearing up for a phone tree from hell that would lead me to an unhelpful representative who would make me jump through hoops to cancel.

In a strange twist of fate, I said “Operator” at the prompt and I was immediately transferred to a real-life human being. I asked her to be transferred to U-verse billing, and she said she could help me … no transfers, no hold music.

She was able to process the cancellation in about 2 minutes, she was very friendly and (more importantly) human. She said she understood why I had to cancel, and gave me a confirmation number along with the instructions to mail in the modem/DVR in less time than I was expecting to spend on hold.

AT&T U-verse: A surprisingly pleasant customer service experience. Delivered.
