I can’t remember the last time I ordered “just a water” and tried to sneak Sprite or lemonade at a restaurant that gave me a glass with ice and trusted me to get water at the machine. A few observations (in no particular order):
- In Junior High/High School, I really thought I was getting away with a heist when I would get soda. It was right under their noses, and they had no idea.*
- *In actuality, the employees at the places knew all about it, but they couldn’t have cared less.
- As of late, I opt for water regularly.
- @ $2.50/soda, you can save a lot of money on meals at restaurants by choosing water.
- The transition from soda thief to honest citizen probably occurred around the time that I got a job that direct-deposited paychecks.
